Impact and Transparency

We publish what we can verify — and label what we cannot. Impact figures on this platform come from field records, per lifecycle stage.

Per-stage figures only

Trees are counted per stage: funded, prepared in nursery, delivered, planted, verified alive, replaced. We never blend these into a single total, because a single number hides what actually happened.

Verified in the field

Figures come from documented field records — deliveries, plantings and survival assessments with dates — reviewed before they are published.

What we do not claim

We do not publish estimates of carbon capture, income effects or participation without a documented methodology behind them. Where a methodology exists, it is linked next to the figure.

Transparency

Six stages, counted separately

  1. Funded

An organization has funded the tree as part of a defined project.

  2. Prepared in nursery

The tree is raised and hardened in the Herat nursery until it is ready for its site.

  3. Delivered

The tree has been delivered to the farmer or community — documented per batch.

  4. Planted

The tree is in the ground, planted with the people who will care for it.

  5. Verified alive

A field assessment on a recorded date confirmed the tree alive and growing.

  6. Replaced

A tree that did not survive was replaced under the project's documented terms — and recorded as such.

Counts are always reported per stage with their assessment dates — never merged into a single total, and figures appear only once they are verified from field records.

Verified figures

Per-stage totals across our publicly listed projects. Only field records that passed review are counted, and every stage shows its own as-of date.

Verified figures will be published here

No verified project figures exist yet. Once projects are underway, this page will show per-stage counts derived from field records — each labeled with its stage and assessment date, never merged into one total.

How we count

Field records, not estimates

Every figure starts as a dated field record — a nursery batch, a delivery, a planting or a counted survival assessment — recorded by our own staff.

Review before reporting

A record only counts after administrative review and approval. Submitted-but-unapproved records never appear in public or partner figures.

Every figure has a date

Counts are shown with the date they are honest for. Verified-alive figures always carry their assessment date, and newer assessments replace older ones — they are never added together.

No combined totals

Funded, prepared, delivered, planted, verified alive and replaced are different things. We never merge them into one headline number.

Survival commitments

Where a project includes a survival commitment, its period, assessment method and replacement conditions are documented per project and shown on that project's page. We do not claim a universal survival guarantee.

About CO₂ figures

We do not publish CO₂ estimates unless a documented methodology — with assumptions, time period, source and approval — exists and is linked next to the figure. No such methodology exists yet, so no CO₂ figures appear anywhere on this site.

Limitations

Figures reflect approved field records at the time shown; they can be corrected, and corrections are recorded transparently. Field verification in rural Afghanistan has practical limits — assessments are counts on specific dates, not continuous measurements.
